9500 Liberty documents the first time in US history that an Arizona-style immigration law was actually implemented -- and the surprising grassroots opposition that led to its repeal.
Racial tension and threats of violence erupt when Prince William County, Virginia adopts a law requiring the police to question people who appear to be undocumented immigrants. Supporters of the law ride a wave of hysteria to an election victory. But many reconsider when the local economy feels the impact of a sudden exodus of workers, consumers, and business owners. Despite fears of reprisal, a group of concerned citizens launches a "virtual resistance" using social media, setting up a final showdown with the law's ferocious advocates.

Special: 9500 Liberty We need to be asking WHY people south of the border were coming here in such numbers after NAFTA went into effect? What was the impact on Mexican farmers? |
Mexico's stance on illegal immigration: (1)An illegal immigrant who sneaks into the country, or fails to file his papers, will face fines, jail, deportation, or a combination of the three. (2)An illegal immigrant who forges his documents, or falsifies them by lying when he fills them out, will face fines, jail, deportation, or a combination of the three. (3)An illegal immigrant who takes a job faces fines, up to six years in prison, and deportation. (4)All immigrants must provide proof of their legal status if the authorities demand it. Failure to do so will result, once more, in fines, jail, deportation, or a combination of the three. This is a far cry from the "inhumane" policies of SB 1070. |
Human beings entering a sovereign country illegally is illegal hence the use of the term. Alien refers to them being foreign but a more proper use could be illegal immigrant. Nevertheless, open borders is not feasible for a sovereign nation. Even Mexico has strict rules against illegal immigrants. Let's stop pandering to a feel good theory when in practice open borders is full of dire consequences. |
The words "illegal aliens" is intended to dehumanize immigrants who came to this country primarily in search of work opportunities that are not found in their countries of origin. Immigrants are human beings, and human beings are not illegal. Americans need to feel compassion for immigrants who contribute to society with their hard work. They also deserve an opportunity. What would it be like to be in their shoes? Let's stop humiliating them! |
