House Immigration Hearing Protested By Dreamers: 'Undocumented And Unafraid' (VIDEO)

WASHINGTON -- A group of undocumented immigrants interrupted a House Judiciary Committee hearing on immigration Tuesday by standing to shout, "Undocumented and unafraid!" until they were escorted out by staff.
Nearly 200 young undocumented immigrants -- who refer to themselves as Dreamers after the Dream Act, which would give legal status to undocumented young people who came to the United States as children -- are in Washington this week doing advocacy training. About 10 of them stood in line for the hearing and sat quietly for more than three hours as members of Congress delivered remarks and asked questions.
They stood when Rep. Darrell Issa (R-Calif.) was given a chance to speak and ask questions, just after Rep. Luis Gutierrez (D-Ill.), a staunch supporter of legalization for undocumented immigrants, spoke. Rep. Bob Goodlatte (R-Va.), the chairman of the committee, quickly had the Dreamers removed. He explained the rules of the room to the audience afterward, saying it was a violation to interrupt.
"That was not a good accent point to the excellent points made by the gentleman from Illinois," he said, referring to Gutierrez.
