Durbin: Immigration group meets 'virtually every day'

Senate Majority Whip Dick Durbin said on Sunday the so-called Gang of 8 on immigration reform could be a model for solving other issues in a bipartisan way.
"I think people who have given up on Congress would be encouraged to know there's a real dialogue, bipartisan dialogue, and perhaps, just perhaps we can set the stage for a more positive dialogue when it comes to the budget," the Illinois Democrat said on CBS's "Face the Nation."
Durbin is working with Sens. Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.), Robert Menendez (D-N.J.), Marco Rubio (R-Fla.), Michael Bennet (D-Colo.), Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.), and Republicans Jeff Flake and John McCain of Arizona on a bipartisan immigration reform bill.
We "have really buckled down," Durbin said. "We meet virtually every day in a bipartisan effort to write an immigration bill. The president supports this."
The immigration group has released a statement of principles, but has yet to introduce actual legislation.
