Anibal Perez & WFP on Drummond Coal Spill & Threats To Workers in Colomb...

Petition the U.S. Ambassador to hold Drummond accountable for its flagrant violation of the provisions in the Colombia-U.S. Free Trade Agreement, and of Colombian law: http://org2.democracyinaction.org/o/5436/p/dia/action/public/?action_KEY=12795

Anibal Perez is the President of ASOTRED-Puerto (Asociacion de Trabajadores Enfermos de Drummond), the Association of ex-Drummond port employees who became sick while working at Drummond. He works with those who have become seriously ill or injured while working for Drummond Coal in the Department of Cesar and the port at Ciénaga.

Aníbal has played a major role in making public the January 13th Drummond coal spill by sending photos of the sinking barge to media outlets. It was not until after these photos appeared publicly that Drummond filed a report about the spill. He then aided with the environmental investigation into Drummond, resulting in death threats to him and his family. This is an opportunity to hear Aníbal speak about his experience organizing for workers' rights and environmental rights in northeast Colombia.
